Candle Magic & Colour

So, this month i’ve been learning about candle magic and how very adaptable it is. Through the addition of scent, colour, ingraving and your own pure will, a simple candle becomes a very powerful magical tool!

Each colour has its own energies and when you combine this with candle magic you get a candle that is specific to your magical needs. For example Yellow is a great colour to choose if your spell is for good studies, exam help etc as it is the colour of study and confidence. Below is a list of colours and their applications in candle magic.

Colours:

White      ~ Protection, purification, peace, truth and sincerity.

Red          ~ Strength, health, vigour, lust, sex, passion, courage,

Pink         ~ Love, friendships, honour and morality

Orange    ~ Stimulation, attraction, adaptability

Yellow    ~ Divination, confidence, study, intellect, attraction

Green      ~ Money, prosperity, luck, employment, growth,  fertility

Light Blue ~ Healing, happiness, tranquility, patience

Dark Blue ~ Healing, psychic powers, subconscious, flexibility, change

Purple     ~ Power, healing severe disease, meditation, spirituality

Brown     ~ The home, working magic for animals, healing animals

Grey ~ Neutrality

Black       ~ Absorbing & destroying negativity, banishing,

The Wiccan Rede

No self respecting Wiccan, so i’m told,  is without the Wiccan Rede somewhere amongst their Book of Shadows and Grimoires!

One of the most cherished Wiccan traditions is the Wiccan Rede, which outlines the basic tenets and rules that Wiccans live by.

It is full of illustrative imagery, magical charm, ecological awareness, instruction, and plain old common sense!

The Wiccan Rede

Bide the Wiccan law ye must, in perfect love and perfect trust.

Live and let live, fairly take and fairly give.

Cast the circle thrice about, to keep all evil spirits out.

To bind the spell every time, let the spell be spoke in rhyme.

Soft of eye and light of touch, speak ye little, listen much.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, sing and dance the witches’ rune.

Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and werewolf howls by old wolfsbane.

When the Lady’s moon is new, kiss thy hand to her times two.

When the moon rides at her peak, then your hearts’ desire speak.

Heed the Northwind’s mighty gale, lock the door and drop the sail.

When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss thee on the mouth.

When the wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.

When the Westwind blows o’er thee, departed spirits restless be.

Nine woods in the cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.

Elder be the Lady’s tree, burn it not or cursed be!

When the Wheel begins a turn, let the Beltane fires burn.

First Steps On A New Path

The last few months have been strange ones!

In early April, after a kidney infection,  I began having panic attacks. I have no idea why as the infection was all over with. I was not worried about that.  I did however have this constant feeling of dread, that something really awful was about to happen.

During the course of April these feelings continued, in fact they got worse! I was now frightened to be left on my own and felt scared for absolutely no reason I could think of.  I’m a 32 year old Woman. This was all just crazy!

May arrived and I was looking at techniques to cope with what was happening. I was able to stop some of the attacks but that feeling of dread was still there. It was all classic anxiety attack symptoms but the psychic in my knew that this was the kind of sensation I would have when experiencing a premonition.

So, life went on as usual until Friday May 21st when my beloved cat Merlin died. He was incredible, beautiful, and I was heartbroken. When you are largely confined to bed rest, as I am, having a constant companion who has been with you since he was a kitten is a very special relationship. We had 13 years together where he slept on my crystals, sat in on my spell casting, snuggled in to watch the television with me, and loved unconditionally.

Saturday felt very empty and strange. My friend was no longer there! Sunday was spent shell-shocked as I tried to take in the fact that I wouldn’t see that sweet face again.

At 2:00am on Monday 24th of May the phone began to ring! The household woke up dreading who would be on the other end of the line and why. My Father answered and a long discussion followed. Mum and I were champing at the bit, desperate to know who it was. Turns out my Nan had just died!

That was the weekend from hell and far much to be able to process!

Since that weekend all feelings of anxiety and dread disappeared. Now I know why I was feeling like something terrible was going to happen. I think the universe was trying to give me a little nudge in preparation except I could never have guessed what it would be. I lost two souls very, very dear to me in one weekend.

In the week after I kept hearing “follow the ancestors”. It was rolling around in my head over and over. To cut a long story short it led me to the path of Wicca. Not something I expected but im glad ive found it. Because it’s always been a part of me and I didn’t realise.

So here I am, starting a brand new journey. In true computer age fashion, i’m going to blog it!
